LOVE REVEALED
We love Him because He first loved us (1 John 4:19 New King James Version).
I’m pretty sure that the raptor bird I often see while driving down the expressway is a Red-Tailed Hawk. About three years ago, I took up bird watching and so am always on the lookout for these intriguing creatures. Of course, driving and bird watching is quite dangerous, but I always seem to spot that hawk! Yesterday was no different. Driving to school, I saw him regally posted on the top of a street lamp[, like a sentry, looking over the passing cars. Driving home from school, he was still there, only on the opposite side of the post. Not too far past him, I saw another swooping down from the tree-lined roadside to take up its post on another streetlamp. Two in one day! I have never been so fortunate!
I always thank God when I see these birds, for I know that it is a glimpse of Him that I am getting. All creation reveals the glory of the Lord, if you would just be open to seeing it! There is a wonder and majesty to these birds and whenever I see one posted on the street lamp, looking down at the cars whizzing by, I always picture Father God looking down upon us in much the same way. God loves us so very much that He is always watching over us, there is nothing that escapes His notice. He watches over us and provides for every detail of our care. He also watches ahead of us, meaning that He knows our future and He guides our steps to walk into the future that He has purposed for us.
Each one of us has a story written prior to our conception, a great love story in which God reveals His love for us in ways that only we could receive. Every day of our lives is a page in that story, and when we turn to Him and love Him back, what a story that becomes! God has instilled in each heart the option to choose. He loves us; we can choose to love Him back. Sometimes we aren’t quite sure of just how much God loves us, keeping our spiritual and natural eyes open to displays of His awesome wonder are beautiful reminders of this love. When God turns my eyes to the spectacle of beauty that is the Red-Tailed Hawk, especially while I am driving, I know that God is reminding me of His great love for me.
Let’s Pray: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the blessing of this new day! May our eyes be open to displays of Your glory and love for us. May we seek for more revelation of You in Your beautiful creation! May our lips ever praise You, may our actions be acceptable worship. Father, we love You and we desire to read the story You have written out for us. May our feet stay upon the path You have set before us, not desiring to turn to the left or right. We give You all glory, all honor and all our praise! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Today’s Attitude of Worship: Purpose in your heart today to look for displays of God’s glory and love for you. You never know where it might appear, but you’ll know that it was meant just for you to see! And when you do get that revelation, tell someone! Sharing the Lord through His creation is a wonderful way to share your faith!
