Under Construction

UNDER CONSTRUCTION

The Lord’s light penetrates the human spirit, exposing every hidden motive (Proverbs 20:27 New Living Translation).

Those native to my area of the country say we have two seasons, winter and construction. It would seem that way, as April 1 appears to be the date when dormant heavy machinery begins to wake.  The route I take to work is not exempt from construction, and this week begins a six month long bridge repair, causing traffic to be redirected because of shifted lanes. Not only will I have to leave a little more time to get to work, I will have to be more aware of the drivers around me.

As we walk with Christ, we will face construction seasons. The Lord continually teaches us and leads us into all truth; however, we must face rerouted lanes, torn up pavement, bridge repair and temporary barriers to get there. Every day He will challenge our thinking and our perception of Him, exposing those areas where we have limited Him, or decreased in faith, or failed to acknowledge Him. We may find we are no longer satisfied with where we are in our spiritual life and He may bring a Scripture or a message to jump out at us redirecting our path. Sometimes, we may back off from some of the activities and fellowship we had been doing in order to pursue God further. He may even challenge our theology and the things we were taught, engaging our minds and hearts to dig deeper, to pursue further, to chase understanding.

Construction season with the Lord is for our good. It is what gives birth to growth within us, and brings fresh insight into Scripture. We should not always take man at his word because we are capable of missing what the Lord is saying, we must study Scripture and pray for understanding for ourselves.

Let’s pray: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the blessing of Your Word. Thank You for the opportunity to pursue You further as Your Spirit guides us into all truth. May Your Word penetrate us and bring construction seasons designed to make our hearts over. We thank You for these seasons of growth and we know You will see us through them, for all that You have for us is good and for our good. Father, we give You all praise and all glory, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Today’s Attitude of Worship: Study the Scriptures and pray for fresh insight, ask for understanding and step out of your comfort zone by listening to different preachers; as you do this, you gain different perspectives, enabling the Spirit to increase your understanding and hearing.

I am currently taking my bible study women through a re-construction with Margaret Feinberg’s Wonder Struck book…de-constructing what true and simple worship looks like, and actually going through a 30 day challenge together. I like your construction metaphor
