For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago (Ephesians 2:10 NLT).
I’ve had this verse and the word “masterpiece” in my spirit for a couple of weeks now. The Lord has shown me a myriad of images all depicting Him as the Master Artist. I have seen Him as the Potter, working with clay at the wheel. I have seen Him sculpt and trim with care each piece, and I have seen Him remove the piece of art from the wheel with a joyful song and place it with care where He desires to display it. I have seen Him as the Painter, applying and removing color on canvas, some of the colors so vivid I have no earthly words to describe them. I have seen the wall He displays these works on and I have seen Him giggle with joy and sing to each one. I have seen him as the Weaver, creating a tapestry so beautiful there is no earthly comparison, with each thread interconnecting with others. I have seen Him laugh and cry while working on this piece and I have felt His heart as He’s snapped threads no longer pliable for His purpose. This is a piece not yet finished, He works at it continuously and He hums while working.
Now I see Him as the Jeweler surrounded by gems of all kinds. There are diamonds, rubies, sapphires, emeralds, topaz…etc. There are kinds I’ve never seen and are stunning in their splendor. He is setting the gems in rings and I can hear him singing as He works. His hands swift and sure, consideration given to each gem and each ring setting. He is purposeful in His work.
I hear the Lord say “I AM not finished with You yet, I AM the author and perfecter of your faith and My hand is at work in your life. Do not focus on where you think you should be, focus on Me and My Love for you, My Perfect Will for you, My Purpose working within you. Focus on Me and that which I have breathed into you, that which I have spoken over you and that which I have planted in your heart, for I have given you My Heart. You are My Masterpiece and I carefully chose you for such a time as this. Partner with Me in love, in grace, in affection for others. Partner with Me in prayer and worship Me in the secret place. Oh, the plans I have for you! I cannot reveal all at once, your mind could not contain it for My thoughts are higher than your thoughts; walk with Me, partner with Me and in time, I will reveal each step necessary for your completion. My love for you is great and everlasting. You are My signet ring.”
‘In that day,’ says the Lord of hosts, ‘I will take you, Zerubbabel My servant, the son of Shealtiel,’ says the Lord, ‘and will make you like a signet ring; for I have chosen you,’ says the Lord of hosts” (Haggai 2:22-23 NKJV).
Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: “O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter?” says the Lord. “Look, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel (Jeremiah 18:5-6)!
For the mountains shall depart
And the hills be removed,
But My kindness shall not depart from you,
Nor shall My covenant of peace be removed,”
Says the Lord, who has mercy on you.
“O you afflicted one,
Tossed with tempest, and not comforted,
Behold, I will lay your stones with colorful gems,
And lay your foundations with sapphires.
I will make your pinnacles of rubies,
Your gates of crystal,
And all your walls of precious stones.
All your children shall be taught by the Lord,
And great shall be the peace of your children.
In righteousness you shall be established;
You shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear;
And from terror, for it shall not come near you.
Indeed they shall surely assemble, but not because of Me.
Whoever assembles against you shall fall for your sake (Isaiah 54:10-15).
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God (Hebrews 12: 1-2).
