Today is named LET GO because we all have things we need to release in order to move forward. Sometimes we hold on to things, people, situations, thoughts, etc. because they are familiar. We take comfort in holding on. Most of the time what we grip so tightly are the things we desperately need to let go.
God does not want for us to hold on to old feelings of guilt, bitterness, unforgiveness, toxic relationships, toxic memories and thoughts. He doesn’t want us to become stagnant in our pasts. He wants us ever moving onward and upward, growing daily.
We can’t grab what we are meant to have today if we are clamped on to what we had yesterday.
“I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.” (Philippians 3:12-14 NLT)
