Be Still and Know

Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth (Psalm 46:10 NKJV)!

Be still, be calm, see, and understand I am the True God. I am honored among all the nations. I am honored over all the earth” (Psalm 46:10 VOICE).

Surrender your anxiety! Be silent and stop your striving and you will see that I am God. I am the God above all nations and I will be exalted throughout the whole earth (Psalm 46:10 TPT).

The last time the Lord brought this verse so prominently to mind was in 2005  and I was about to quit a job I was bored with. Earlier today, I was reminded of this verse while worshiping. When it was first spoken to me, I took it as a literal interpretation. Papa’s audible voice told me to “Wait, be still and know I am God” after I had gotten out of my chair to give my boss my notice. So I sat back down. I ended up waiting to give notice for a year. But He is good in that He kept me from causing a financial catastrophe for my family. And He did prove Himself to be God, over and over and over that year!

Moving on to present time. When I heard it this morning, I heard it more like this: Be still (in awe, watchful, immovable in spirit, expectant, anticipatory) and know (trust, understand, discern, perceive, be cognizant of, comprehend) that I AM God (Yahweh, Adonai, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies). I will be exalted (lifted up, held in high esteem, magnificent, supreme, honored) among the nations, I will be exalted (lifted up, held in high esteem, magnificent, supreme, honored) in the earth. It took my breath away, and in fact, still does.

Hearing this Scripture in my heart this way reminded me of how majestic and magnificent our Papa is and how we need to see Him this way. He is the Creator of all things, the Lord on High, our Heavenly Father, Holy and Righteous. The situations we face as humans, on this earth, in our lives are trivial in comparison to the Glory and Majesty of God. He could blink and wipe every problematic situation away. But notice this:

Be still

and know

That I AM God.

I will be

Exalted among the nations

Exalted in the earth.

He’s talking to us! He’s giving us a simple formula to to advance His kingdom!

Church, we need to be in awe of Him, expectant and watchful, understanding and discerning that He IS God; believe that He is for us, that He loves us, that He knows us intimately. We must comprehend that as God, nothing escapes His eye, no need goes untended, no wound unbound. He is always at work behind the scenes to fulfill His purposes in us. When we come to this wholehearted realization, and not try to help Him along, we will see Him exalted among all the peoples of the earth. No one can stand before the presence of God and not be changed.

We are carriers of His glory, His warrior Bride. We must be obedient, and trusting; doing our part.

Be still and know that He is God!
