Eyes Ever Upward

I will lift up my eyes to the hills— From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth (Psalm 121:1-2 NKJV).

Have You Had Your Hearing Checked Lately?

HAVE YOU HAD YOUR HEARING CHECKED LATELY?

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God (Romans 10:17 New King James Version).

This Scripture has always somewhat puzzled me.  Why?  I simply can’t say.  One morning, while driving to work, I began to hear this Scripture resonate through my mind, and knew the Holy Spirit was going to reveal something. Faith comes by hearing – this is very true. Our faith grows when we hear testimonies of God’s goodness and faithfulness in the lives of others. It grows when we retell of His hand at work in our lives.  Our faith multiplies as we bear witness to His miracles, and within His creation.  Tell me you aren’t excited when you hear of the mercy and grace the Lord extended in the life of someone else; tell me your faith hasn’t been increased because of it! I don’t think you can!

Hearing…now this is the part that I paid close attention to the Holy Spirit for…”hearing by the word of God” the Scripture says.  We hear because the Word of God has opened our ears to hear.  Jesus is the Word. He’s the Word made flesh, and it is because of Him that we have the ability to hear what God speaks, therefore increasing our faith. This is why it is vitally important we are reading our Bibles on a consistent basis. By our diligent pursuit of God, we will know when we are faced with moments designed to build us up and increase our faith!  God’s word is truth and by it we are strengthened, encouraged, corrected, protected, taught, and we come to know God by the truths He reveals through it.

Let’s Pray:  Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word.  Thank You for revealing Yourself through Your word to us, for being our faith builder and for opening our ears.  Father, may we not deprive ourselves of this precious relationship by not taking You seriously.  May we earnestly turn our hearts towards You and may we truly hear by the Word of God!  We love You and we long to worship You.  We give You all our praise, all our worship and all the glory!  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Today’s Attitude of Worship: If you have not experienced any faith increases lately, take a mental assessment of how much you’ve been in God’s word.  If your Bible study is lacking, your faith increasing and hearing ability may not be up to par. Sit with the Lord and read His word today!

Additional Scriptures:  Deuteronomy 11:18-25; Job 22:22; Proverbs 22:17; Romans 10

The Word of God well understood and religiously obeyed is the shortest route to spiritual perfection. And we must not select a few favorite passages to the exclusion of others. Nothing less than a whole Bible can make a whole Christian. ~AW Tozer

Verse of the Day

““What is the price of five sparrows—two copper coins? Yet God does not forget a single one of them. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows.” — Luke 12:6-7 Listen to chapter . Powered by BibleGateway.com.
