Eyes Ever Upward

I will lift up my eyes to the hills— From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth (Psalm 121:1-2 NKJV).

Restore and Re-Purpose

Today’s word is “Restore and Re-purpose.”

I saw a piece of wood furniture – battered, chipped and peeling paint, missing hardware, broken legs, various pieces hanging off it. It was dirty and very dingy. At first glance, it looked as though it was worth absolutely nothing and the best place for it was a refuse heap. It was barely recognizable as a piece of furniture. Then, I saw the Carpenter inspect the piece. He hummed to Himself and carefully picked up the piece and carried it to His workbench. I watched Him remove drawers and doors, hardware and legs. He carefully sanded it down, removing the chipped paint. He took pieces of wood and fashioned new doors, drawers and legs for it, and painstakingly attached them to the piece with new hardware. After He had fixed the broken and battered piece of furniture, He painted it. The color is so vibrantly bright, and there is no color like it on earth – it seemed to be shades of amber, blue, gold and red, almost iridescent, but not quite. My human eyes cannot describe it’s exact shade. The Carpenter had restored the piece of furniture and re-purposed it to be more useful than it had originally been.

I heard the Lord say “Behold, I make all things new. Though this world has beaten you down, chipped your spirit, broken your usefulness, I will restore you to the person I created you to be. Come alongside Me and partner with Me in this work I AM doing in you and through you. I have a greater purpose for you than what you have ordained for yourself, and I desire to see My purpose in you fulfilled. You are worthy of My love, do not listen to what this world tells you. You are My child and I have a place for you. Return you heart to Me, allow Me to work My love in you to restore and re-purpose you.”

You have allowed me to suffer much hardship, but you will restore me to life again and lift me up from the depths of the earth (Psalm 71:20 New Living Translation).

Shalom ♥
