Walk On Water

WALK ON WATER

Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear. But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”  (Matthew 14:25-31 New King James Version)

How many of us lose focus after God commands us to do the seemingly impossible because the wind blows? Here we see Jesus calling for Peter to come to Him, and Peter climbing out of the boat to walk towards Jesus. However, when Peter noticed the wind was boisterous, he began to sink. He took his focus off Jesus.

While here on earth, God could call us to do what we think is impossible. He will take us out of our comfort zones, and put us places we would ordinarily not go. He  sometimes will require us to start over, or try something new. The storms will be mighty, and the winds will be boisterous, but God has called us to do what is not impossible for Him. As long as we remain focused on God, there is nothing  we cannot do! Jesus said “Have faith in God” (Mark 11:22). He said “but with God all things are possible (Matthew 19:26). Remember, Jesus also calmed the storm (Matthew 8:26).

If God has called you to do the impossible-stop trying to ignore it, stop questioning it, stop fighting it. Take a deep breath, say “Ok, Lord, Here I am.” Go ahead and climb on out of the boat. Begin to walk on those waters, take one step at a time and FOCUS on JESUS!

Let’s Pray: Dear Lord, today we come before You with gratitude. We thank You for this new day in which to be a witness for you. We thank You for the work that You have done in our lives, for the changes You have made in us, and for the growth that we have experienced. Each day that You grant us is a blessing, it allows us to see more clearly Your hand upon this earth. Please forgive us for losing focus on You sometimes, for questioning Your purpose for our lives. We know that You see all things, but You don’t always reveal to us everything because You know that we are not ready for all of it yet. Help us to remain focused on You during every storm. Help us to be prepared for what You have called us to do. Grant us Your mighty strength to withstand the boisterous winds that will blow against us as we go about Your business. Show us favor when we begin to take that first impossible step. Illuminate our paths as we begin to walk in our callings. To You be all the glory and honor, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Today’s Attitude of Worship: Be like the toddler just beginning to walk. Place one foot in front of the other and reach for God’s hand to steady you and guide you. If He’s holding your hand, you are surely not going to fall!

Great And Mighty Things

April 9, 2013 by Prudence Leave a Comment

GREAT AND MIGHTY THINGS

Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know (Jeremiah 33:3 New King James Version).

God desires to show us more of Himself.  He wants us to humble ourselves, call upon Him during times of peace and times of trouble.  He desires us to depend completely upon Him to meet our needs, to reveal His glory, and reach others.  He yearns to do miracles, and He longs to touch us in ways only He knows we will respond to.  He wants to take us to the next level in our reliance and submission to Him.  He wants to show us great and mighty things!  There is nothing too hard for God.

God has a purpose and a plan for every part of our lives; sometimes to put that plan and purpose into motion, we need to call to the Lord.  We have to realize when we call to the Lord, He will answer us.  Our eyes and ears must be open and tuned in to see how He answers us.  We have to look for those great and mighty things!  God makes the impossible possible!

If you feel that you have been stuck in a rut and your prayer life has become stale and unfruitful; if you feel as though you have hit a brick wall in your life itself; if you are in a situation more troubled than peaceful – call out to God.  If you desire a deeper walk with Him; if you are longing for more of Him; if you want to know the next step in His path for you – call out to God.  He promises to answer you and reveal Himself to you.  Let Him show you the things He desires for you.

Let’s Pray:  Dear Heavenly Father, thank You so much for this day.  Thank You for blessing us with wakefulness, and more opportunities to be blessings to others.  Thank You for showering us with Your mercy, grace and favor.  We desire more and more of You, we cry out to You from our hearts, with wait with anticipation for Your answer.  Show us, O God, those great and mighty things!  Reveal to us, O Lord, those things that You want for us, take us to the next level.  We offer ourselves to You as living vessels; broken and refashioned by Your hand; filled with Your Spirit.  Send us out, Lord, to be salt and light among the dark of this world.  We bow down and humble ourselves before Your throne, and we give You all honor and praise.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Today’s Attitude of Worship: God will draw near to us as we draw near to Him. To draw near, we need to find where He is and we will find Him as we call to Him.  This isn’t the game of Marco Polo in which we call out with eyes closed, we can openly look for God and call out to Him wherever, whenever, however we can and when we do, He will show Himself to us.
